Where Heart Meets Hope
A Giving Heart Foundation was created after the Berk family’s son, Brayden, was born with aortic valve stenosis and required heart surgery at just one month old. What began as one family’s response to uncertainty has grown into an all volunteer 501(c)(3) nonprofit with a bold vision for children living with congenital heart disease.
Today, the foundation has raised millions to fund innovative research and critical medical technologies. Every dollar moves us closer to a future where children with CHD can live longer, healthier lives filled with possibility and hope.
Looking ahead, AGHF is building toward national recognition, expanding our reach so more families, partners, and supporters join the mission to transform the future of children with CHD. By advancing breakthrough research, strengthening programs like Leading with Heart, our grant program, and raising critical funding for innovation and advocacy, we are creating a future where every child has the chance for a full, healthy, and fulfilling life.

Every year, 1 in 100
children are born with congenital heart disease, the most common birth condition worldwide.
At A Giving Heart Foundation, our mission is to fund research that offers families hope for safer, less invasive treatments and solutions for children with CHD.
Break-through research for tomorrow, life-saving research today
In 2025, A Giving Heart Foundation funding helped advance care for children with congenital heart disease. At Lurie Children’s Heart Center, new technology now allows doctors to adjust treatments in real time during open-heart surgery, already improving outcomes. We also supported research at Cleveland Clinic focused on protecting neurologic health through innovative surgical techniques. We are proud to stand alongside world-class leaders, including Dr. David Winlaw, Dr. Joy Lincoln, Dr. Brandon Tefft, Dr. Massimo Caputo, and Dr. Brad Marino.

Support Leading with Heart
Our Leading With Heart (LWH) program empowers students to raise funds and awareness for CHD research. In 2024, their efforts directly fueled innovation at Lurie Children’s Heart Center and supported Dr. David Winlaw’s groundbreaking work. Funds raised by LWH students helped secure life-saving surgical technology and advance research that may soon reduce the need for multiple surgeries in childhood. Their commitment reflects the power of young leaders to create meaningful change today.
